TRACK and TEST, not Track and Field by Rhonda Hailey Definitely NOT Track and Field... Setting up and tracking your advertising results lends itself to a VERY sedentary lifestyle. However, with a few tedious hours and a NUMB Derriere, you will be well on your way to honing in on your BEST performing headlines and most responsive resources. There are several ways to track your ads and learn what you need to know, in order to plan your paid campaigns more effectively. Track to Identify your absolute BEST PULLING headline. First things First - Table Top your ideas with others to produce effective ad copy and a HEALTHY list of SCREAMING headlines. Read more about Table Topping here: http://rumblesfromthejungle.com/chive/tt.txt Advertising dollars are precious. You want to determine which headline is working best for you, before you spend a dime on paid advertising. To do this, you will need: 1.Tracking Software 2.Mass Submission tool/s 3.and plenty of FR3E Advertising Sources (1) Tracking: Create a tracking link for each of your headlines. Most Tracking Softwares have you specify a name or code to identify your campaign. Use something that will tell you WHICH headline you used. EX: To test 30 different headlines for one ad, you could simply number your links 1-30. You could also use keywords... whatever makes sense to you. Testing for 1 to 4 weeks is recommended for best data collection with which to identify your best performer. There are several Ad Tracking Software companies/services out there and most charge a monthly fee to use. I'm a frugal Shopper; so I like the idea of buying it once and avoiding monthly fees... My favorite is AdTrackz. I own it - got it for a better than fair price and it works great for me. You need to have your own site to house it on. (A fr3e site will do; but don't expect a lot of customer service from fr3e hosts.) Recommended Tracking Software: Max Trcker PRO This script will enable you to set up an entire ad tracking campaign including statistical reports for referring URLs, what browsers your visitors have installed, what operating systems your visitors are using and much more. You to have your own web site to have it installed on. You can have it installed on a free site if you don't have your own domain. You can get it from the RUMBLES SafarEstore for just $37.95 http://rumbletrax.com/ No monthly fees with this one... own it, and use it 4ever! Don't have a web site and don't trust freebie hosts? ISO Register offers the very comprehensive Ad-Alyzer as just one of the MANY benefits of their member package. Available NOW at a lifetime or Monthly fee. Go here to learn more: http://rumblesfromthejungle.com/isoregister.htm Or for you want a HEFTY but easy to use MONTHLY service, you'll appreciate the cost effectiveness of this option: http://rumblesfromthejungle.com/trakurads.htm (2) MASS Submit Your Ad to FFA's and Classified Ad Sites There are hundreds of FFA's and Classified Ad Sites on the net where you can post your ad free. For any REAL response most or all are completely useless but are an excellent way to test your headlines. After all, if you actually do get a response here - you can expect a much better response anywhere else. :) Unless you have many days and many hours in each, to post to these sites individually, (which you would have to be locked in a "padded room" with a computer to do @@ ) you must have MASS submission tools/services. *** WARNING *** MASS submission = MASS Mail in return, so use a valid but JUNK email address, not your primary or the one that recieves your subscriptions such as this ezine.:) It is also important to know - how often to submit. For Classified Sites - weekly For FFA's - Daily or even several times a day if you have time. * Search Engines - only once every 4-6 weeks, or it could be considered spamming. W Recommended Submission Tools: WorldWidePromoter PRO http://www.ad-alyzer.com/727/ad531743147020 WorldWidePromoter submits to thousands of FFAs, Classifieds and Search Engines. You can submit up to 5 campaigns with the Fr3e Version. So if you have 30 headlines, you'd have to rotate your campaigns. It will take more of your time, but it is fr3e. With the PRO version you can submit 30 campaigns at once. Once you have your data entered (which will take a tedious hour or so), you simply login hit the submit button and let her rip. Now if your budget simply won't allow at least the PRO version of WorldWidePromoter there is a Fr3e download below that may prove itself useful, until you can. I can't vouch for its effectiveness since I haven't used it in over 2-3 years - but you are welcome to try it fr3e. (3) Fr3e Advertising Resources Use fr3e advertising resources to TEST your headlines and a'd copy. You will find plenty of fr3e resources here: http://rumblesfromthejungle.com/advdir.htm Safelists: I highly recommend using your fr3e Safelist Memberships for testing ad headlines AND ad copy. Submit to hundreds and definitely get yourself an auto-submitter. Free Ezine CLASSIFIEDS: You didn't think I would close this article without mentioning the use of fr3e ezine classifieds, did you? Lucky for you, not only can you get a weekly fr3e classified in RUMBLES by using the Ad Codes provided; BUT with many of the paid solo mailings you read, you can submit another fr3e classified which is featured in the READER ROAR which is published once a week. READER ROAR is not only distributed to our subscribers, but also receives guaranteed traffic usally in excess of 5000 hits per week. http://rumblesfromthejungle.com/READER_ROAR.htm Fr3e Advertising Resources are numerous. They require a greater investment of TIME to produce a measurable profit, than most of us can afford; but are PRIME Testing Fields for your Headlines. Oh wait... it is TRACK and FIELD after all..:) =============================================== Copyright © Rhonda Hailey 2004-2005. Editor, RUMBLES from the Jungle Ezine.
