BEWARE of Auto-Deleters by Rhonda Hailey If you are marketing online; then your INBOX probably looks much like that of everyone elses: FULL of the same-ol Open me to get Rich offers that everyone receives on an hourly basis. So how do you keep your busy, frustrated recipient from Auto-deleting your SPECIAL Email? For starters, your headline should be CLEAR and Inviting; and better give your reader good REASON to open your email. Your prospect's eyes are scanning (if that) over a huge list of email headlines and he/she will not even SEE much less open yours if it doesn't promise to provide something they want or must have, such as: valuable (to them) info, something (they Want), something Fr3e something that provides Security something that makes (them) Money, satisfies curiosity or fulfills a NEED What is in your ARSENAL? You should have a list of BENEFITS that your product or service provides and a list of your IDEAL Prospects. You should also have a good list of WHERE to find your ideal Prospect. This is your ARSENAL of information to use when writing your headlines. You may have a Fantastic Sales Letter COMPLETE with all the Critical ELEMENTS of an wi'nning campaign...But if you hit that Send Button before you have a Headline that SCREAMS "Open Me"!, all of your work will be wasted. Your headline must promise to SATISFY or relate to your prospects NEEDS, Habits or Comfort, WANTS, Emotions, or FEAR of Loss. And.. your Headline MUST NOT trick or deceive or you will lose this and all future chances to do business with your prospect, and destroy your credibility. (Not to mention get in trouble with the FTC..) Headline IDEAS that work: '''''''''''''''''''''''' * Your Headline should either SPARK an Idea or INTRIGUE your prospect to OPEN and Read More. * Your Headline should address ONE Person - Write as if you were speaking directly to this ONE Prospect and no one else. Personalize if possible. * Use NEWS or Announcement Type Headlines. People like to be the first to hear or keep up with whats NEW. Try using words like: Announcing... NEW... Introducing... * Try beginning your Headline with "How to"... * Make your Headline the LEAD IN to a Story, or Testimonial. * Use a WARNING or Time Limitation in your Headline. * Ask a Question or appeal to your Prospects competitiveness. Encourage INTERACTION with your ad copy. Write MANY Headlines and test them using Free advertising sources and tracking software. Once you have determined the BEST pulling headline... then and only then spend your advertising dollars using your BEST Performer. ============================================================ Copyright © Rhonda Hailey 2003-2004.
